Welcome to a "magnificent and marvelous" Monday!

Today's Verse From God's Word:

"You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the Earth. You will restore me to even greater honor and comfort me once again" (Psalm 71:20-21 NLT)

Today's Smile:

Who carried the casket of the greatest apostle known in the Scriptures? ... Paul bearers

Today's Highlight In History:

In 2003, Richard Rodriquez, a university professor from Chicago, set a world record by completing more than (70) hours on one of Europe's steepest roller coasters. The 42 year-old defeated the previous record of 35.5 hours, traveling on the Expedition GeForce Train at Germany's Holiday Park. He was allowed (15) minute breaks every (8) hours. Doctors accompanied him on the (75) mile per hour, (203) foot high ride.

Today's Scriptural Pursuit Question:

"Why was Jesus led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness?" Answer: "To be tempted by the Devil" (Matthew 4:1).

Congratulations to Anna Wilkinson of Salisbury! Anna answered the question correctly and wins a CD of top (25) hymns. Jennifer Burke will give you another opportunity to win a great prize when another fun round of Scriptural Pursuit comes your way this afternoon at 5:15 p.m. on The Joy Ride.

Today's Wacky But True:

In one family's Kansas City, Missouri, neighborhood, it is illegal to shoot fireworks, so the neighbors called the authorities when one family decided to celebrate the 4th of July with explosives. When the police arrived, one individual decided to hide the fireworks in the oven where they were quickly forgotten. Later the next day, the oven was turned on to prepare dinner - you can imagine what happened next. The kitchen was blown to pieces! The walls were blown out and the oven was propelled through one of the walls. Flying glass caused some minor injuries, but thankfully no one was seriously injured! Charges were not filed since the police thought the injuries lesson alone. Another good reason to leave the fireworks to professionals!

A southern Illinois pilot says he has designed a new way to let people who want to be cremated, spread their ashes. John Whitney, Sr. is offering to take the ashes up in his airplane and spread them from a height of 2,500 feet above where the deceased chooses. Whitney says the system he has designed makes sure that the ashes are pushed out into the wind and don't end up on the plane or inside it.

Today's On-Line Trivia:

There was no winner in Friday's on-line question, so here it is again ... In the New Testament, the apostle Paul quoted one of the Ten Commandments, saying, "it was the first one that ends with a promise." What commandment did he quote, and what is the promise? You must provide both answers. The first person to e-mail onair@wolc.org with the correct answers will receive a free Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich courtesy of Chick-fil-A.
